SHOW NOTES
What is the one thing I think we need to quit doing? If you have heard of the Smartypants Author Podcast, or the book Dear Writer, You Need to Quit, then you’re in the right place. I’m a coach who helps authors figure out their systems, and this is the first episode of my video podcast.

Goodmorrow, Ms Becca!
I recently found Dear Writer, You Need to Quit, on Kindle. Being frustrated with all “get better writing” books, because they all criticised the hallmarks of my writing style (which is to be historically accurate, but still appealing to modern reader), I intended to skip your book. That is until I saw the title, Dear Writer, Are You in Burnout?
2022 has been hellacious for me, and I feel I am verging on a nervous breakdown.
Hence, the Burnout book caught my attention.
I sampled it and You Need to Quit – and bought them both after reading the TOC.
I have finished both books, and I swear my dh is sick of hearing me talk about them. I’m almost dancing and singing. Not because you have given me any great insight, but because you have validated what I have known about myself for years. None of my author friends, writing classes, or writing books have ever backed me and my system up – making me question myself and feel like a freak.
I still don’t know how to move stuff off my plate – it is my family life that has pushed everything to the margins, and it is NOT letting up. Writing is what I do for ME, and I’m getting very little time for that. But your book helped me anyway. At least someone understands where I am, and that validation tells me I am NOT going crazy.
Thank you.
I enjoyed this episode of the QuitCast, and have taken notes.
I cannot thank you enough.
Godspeed!
